The August 2023 lineup from Vinegar Syndrome was announced and put up for pre-order this afternoon, and as always you can grab individual releases or the entire August package.

First up, Vinegar Syndrome presents the world 4K UHD and BD debut of Martin Walz’ film adaptation of the beloved underground comic, KILLER CONDOM! In addition to presenting the film in its never-on-disc extended director’s cut (along with the standard theatrical version), they’ve assembled a comprehensive selection of extras which reveal every sleazy secret surrounding this delectably debauched German sci-fi classic.

Next up, Mexico’s maverick auteur, René Cardona Jr. is back to unleash a quadruple threat of exploitation madness: Headlining the set is his notorious animal attack classic, BEAKS! (aka BIRDS OF PREY). This jaw dropping sleaze fest, which features a surprise soundtrack by maestro Riz Ortolani, has been restored to its complete and uncut international version and offers more ripped out eyeballs and other avian havoc than you can sink your beak into.

Then, in a straight-faced and surprisingly grim turn from Cardona’s more absurd efforts, comes UNDER SIEGE (aka HOSTAGES), a bleak and violent crime drama. Cutting even deeper is the telenovela-esque (albeit with a lot more nudity and violence), LA CASA QUE ARDE DE NOCHE, which is making its world disc debut along with Cardona’s bizarre answer to 60s spy capers, S.O.S. CONSPIRACIÓN BIKINI.

Vinegar Syndrome heads to South America with the world Blu-ray debut of a duo of in-name-only films, set deep in the seediest reaches of the Amazon jungle, featuring Oswaldo de Oliveira’s wild white slave thriller, AMAZON JAIL along with Conrado Sanchez’ arguably even stranger “sequel,” AMAZON JAIL II! Both have been exclusively restored and are being offered for the very first time with both their original Portuguese language tracks along with their more commonly heard English dubs, and come complete with first ever disc interviews with surviving cast and crew.

Plus, VS Labs is proud to regurgitate onto your TV one of the weirdest, wackiest, and grossest comedies to ever splash out of Britain, Ade Edmondson’s GUEST HOUSE PARADISO, which makes its US Blu-ray debut, newly restored and featuring an exclusive interview with co-star Simon Pegg!

They’re all up for pre-order right now, exclusively at www.VinegarSyndrome.com!

Today also marks the official launch of Vinegar Syndrome’s sister site, Mélusine; the new home for all things sexploitation and classic hardcore. So be sure to check it out and poke around.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

The feature directorial debut of Samuel Bodin, creator of Netflix’s “Marianne,” Cobweb was released in limited theaters last month with very little promotion and very little fanfare, and it ended up being so hard to find that most fans didn’t even get a chance to see it.

The good news this week is that Cobweb is headed to Blu-ray in time for Halloween, with Amazon listing a September 12, 2023 release date at the time of this article being written.

Lionsgate’s summer release strategy for Cobweb is a bit of a head scratcher, as the film fully embodies the spooky vibes of the Halloween season. In fact, the whole movie is set right around Halloween, so it’s a perfect one to watch on the road to October 31. Thankfully, you’ll be able to do just that within the comfort of your own home this coming spooky season.

You can pre-order your copy from Amazon now.

Lizzy Caplan (“Castle Rock”) and Antony Starr (“The Boys”) star as parents who seemingly can’t be trusted in the rated “R” horror movie from director Samuel Bodin.

“Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?”

Cleopatra Coleman and Woody Norman also star.

Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the film, which will be produced by Roy Lee through his Vertigo Entertainment banner, and by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, through Point Grey. Andrew Childs and Josh Fagen will executive produce.

Jim Miller and Meredith Wieck are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
